One Room Challenge – Week 5 – 1st Floor Trifecta

1 Nov One Room Challenge – Week 5 – 1st Floor Trifecta

It’s Week 5 of the One Room Challenge and boy has it been *a challenge*. Here in Sacramento (and much of Norther CA) a massive storm came through, which became a series of unfortunate events at 1250 Norfolk – Leaky roof, broken tiles, dead water heater and a broken furnace… all at once! My husband and I braved the rain to attempt a quick roof patch when we discovered some leaking inside the house, but even with that effort, some of our beloved original wood wall paneling was damaged. I am truly devastated and hope that we can repair as much of this one-of-a-kind feature as possible.

As for renovations on our 1st Floor Trifecta, we did make some progress this week as well, thank goodness! The insulation went in, the electrical rough-in is done and sheetrock is going up this weekend, whew! I found myself smoothing out some of the seams in the guest bathroom – you can never be too hands on, right?! Even with all of the hiccups this week, I am so excited to see the renovation coming together so well and can’t wait to make some holiday memories once it’s completed.

Week 5 of the ORC has been filled with preparations to set us up for success with the gorgeous materials ready to go in in the coming weeks. Texturing of some existing walls to prepare for wallpaper install. Brackets are in for the shelving in the kitchen. I got news that my base cabinets are almost done and should be delivered at the end of Week 6 and that means countertop template process the following week. I can’t wait to show off the stunning soapstone counters that are going into the kitchen. My current thought, depending on material available, is to use it for the powder room counter as well – stay tuned to see if that spark of inspiration materializes.

Somewhere in the midst of this remodel, the Design by Misha client workload and the kids activities (soccer mom status is in full swing!) I also need to paint SO MUCH! Currently scouring my Sherwin Williams paint swatches and deciding what will work with the decorative wallpapers and tile. Many areas will utilize a classic SW color ‘Greek Villa” which is a really versatile white that we have used all throughout the Norfolk residence.

We love being a part of the One Room Challenge community and I encourage you to check out the other awesome participants work also.
