One Room Challenge – Week 7 – 1st Floor Trifecta Remodel Progress

11 Nov One Room Challenge – Week 7 – 1st Floor Trifecta Remodel Progress

Well hello friends, another week of the 1st Floor Trifecta Renovations is continuing on my family’s CA Modern Home, here in Sacramento. As you may have seen or encountered yourselves, the supply chain issues are starting to have an impact and push deadlines to get projects completed. We have been dealing with shipping delays for some time now, however we are hearing manufacturers are behind in production as well. It has been discouraging, to say the least. We have one step forward, two steps back going on with the ORC renovations, but thankfully some things are still getting done this week, so let’s dive into it.

The base cabinets in the kitchen have now been installed, along with the drawer boxes (drawer faces going on ASAP)! Our amazing cabinetry guy is making progress on the laundry room upper cabinets and also the pantry. A big checkmark off of the ‘to do’ list was finalizing the island countertop templates for my beautiful soapstone. I can’t wait to have that in place. We did confirm there will be enough material to use it in the powder room as well, yay!  Unfortunately, the paperstone countertop for the rest of the kitchen is giving us some delivery issues – the slabs are MASSIVE – and offloading it and getting it into the house is going to require some creativity. Keep an eye on our IG page for real-time updates of this exciting undertaking, hopefully happening on Friday.

The supply chain delays have pushed back our laundry room sink, bathroom wallpapers (Noooooo!), Laundry room faucet, kitchen beverage faucet and dining room chandelier. Small items that overall make a big impact and it’s going to put a strain on things to work around the delays, but at this point there’s not much I can do. I’m hoping the powder room wallpaper, I ordered over 6 weeks ago, will be here soon so we can finish painting in that bathroom as well.

Paint has been going up in much of the 1st floor, using our fave Sherwin Williams ‘Greek Villa’ neutral. After attempting a color match with a wallpaper sample I do have on hand, I am leaning towards SW ‘Tricorn Black’ for the powder room coordinating with the Heron wallpaper. This color might not have quite enough green tint to it, but it’s one we’ve used elsewhere on the Norfolk property and know we like it.

All in all, I am pushing hard on this giant remodel, knowing that I may have bit off more than I can chew. Celebrating each step leading us closer to ‘finished’ is helping, but I just hope we have someplace livable for my family and I by Thanksgiving this year! We all know what unprecedented times these have been and, as the joke goes, I’d love some ‘precedented’ times soon 😉 Hang in there everyone and just know that we can do hard things.
