Innovative ways to decorate your home with minimalist furniture

19 Dec Innovative ways to decorate your home with minimalist furniture

Here at Design by Misha we’ve rounded up our favorite furniture pieces we love to decorate our spaces with. Finding new and inspiring furniture that sets a room apart from the status quo with varying finishes and textures is our constant intent. What we’ve learned over the years of revising tired spaces is to introduce something fun and new. It doesn’t have  to be incredibly high end to be impactful but being strategic about using a “high and low” price range is how many designers keep their clients happy and within budget. In every space there is a smart splurge. Whether it’s the quality sofa, a gorgeous piece of art, or a vintage artifact. It’s not always the most expensive item that makes the loudest statement or sets the overall tone of a room.

SIDE TABLES

Here is a roundup of our favorite smaller furniture pieces that can elevate a space and decorate a room. Side tables are a simple and less expensive way to accessorize a room. The many textures, materials, and finishes of side table options are endless. Currently, these are the side tables that are making us look twice! The texture of wood or natural finish is pretty much always welcome in many different varying room styles. A marble or a stone finish would be natural element that can translate to modern, transitional, MCM modern and on the list goes. The terrazzo side table is a fun modern twist on what’s current and trending in the design world. The glass side table is a trending design shape and style that’s a total nod to the 80’s and making a strong style come-back.

SIDE CHAIRS

Our side chair selections feature another vast variety of texture. The cane backed chairs are a beautiful feminine and curvy piece. Perfect for a california casual or boho moment. The black wood chair with a backrest that wraps around the back on an oval seat base is a very modern and minimal touch to any space. Blackened wood isn’t always done well but this chair shape is stunningly alluring. The cloth sling chair is an updated version of the ever popular butterfly lounge chair. The low slung lounge is a great bedroom addition. The perfect reading lounge. DBM is dying over the leather wrapped leg chair from Bludot. The most soft and supple buttery leather in the camel tone is like your perfect high-heel shoe. The structure and strength of a wire chair in a space while not appearing too heavy and in some ways transparent. These chairs are very versatile and achieve that desirable modern edge.

COFFEE TABLES

We love a good cocktail table that grounds and speaks to a rooms overall vibe and aesthetic. It’s a centralized piece that can draw your eyes in. The options can be endless but these five tables are our current favorites. Full of texture interest and design forward details these designs are a conversation piece. The concrete cast table adds weight yet brightness with its white matte finish. The burl wood table is such a staple classic. DBM is obsessed with burl wood! It’s such a rare and special wood you just don’t see as often as a light oak, or walnut finish. The shape of this waterfall edge table gives the opportunity to add baskets beneath or some poufs for a total loung-y vibe. It’s a piece you can layer with and we love layers. Rattan! It’s the rage this spring. We are seeing it over and over — from fashion accessories to interiors, this texture is right now but also a throwback to days past. DBM loves using a “high, low” of expensive and affordable pieces and we aren’t mad at this wood cocktail table that has the right weight and shape to center a room with a very approachable price point. Last and certainly not least is this Menu cocktail table with a dark green glass finish encased in black metal with fantastic leg placement. It’s a very modern and minimal look with a moody color tone.
